Dean Gives to Inspire the Class of 2010

Robert Paul (pictured above), dean of Emory College of Arts and Sciences, has pledged $2,010 to the Senior Class Gift Campaign in honor of the Class of 2010. The  Senior Class Gift Campaign is designed to educate Emory seniors on the importance of giving back to the University. Funds raised by the senior class will go to the Class Gift Book Awards, a student-driven award program that gives $500 textbook stipends each spring to undergraduate students based on their academic merit as well as their community and campus involvement.

Paul will commit the funds from Emory College of Arts and Sciences to the campaign in hopes that the gift will underscore the high priority University faculty and administration place on giving back to Emory. Philanthropy is an important value that the administration wants to instill in all Emory undergraduate students. Seniors are encouraged to follow Paul’s example and give to the Senior Glass Gift Campaign in honor of the Class of 2010 or any person who has positively influenced them at Emory. Honorees will receive a letter of recognition from the Emory Annual Fund office.

In addition to the Senior Class Gift Campaign, freshman, sophomore, and junior class campaigns have been launched. The generosity of Emory students already has gained attention from a wide variety of sources. This summer the Class Gift Campaigns received a Gold Award from the Council for Advancement and Support of Education for “Emory Class Gift Campaigns: The Blue Pig.” In addition, The Chronicle of Philanthropy featured these student-led campaigns in its May 2009 edition.
